NEW ATHLETIC THERAPIST IN TOWN!

David Whelan, CSCS, CAT(C), BSc Sports Rehabilitation & Athletic Therapy

David is a Certified Athletic Therapist from Ireland. He graduated from Institute of Technology Carlow, Ireland in 2018 with a first-class honours degree. David is a certified Emergency First Responder (EFR) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). David has also completed several postgraduate courses including Mulligan’s Mobilisations With Movement (MWM). On completion of his degree David spent a year as the college Athletic Therapist where he ran his own clinic for students on sport scholarships as well as mentoring students in a teaching clinic. During this time, he spearheaded the implementation of a Concussion Protocol for the College. David worked with St. Johnstone F.C., a professional soccer team in Scotland and was the head Athletic Therapist for Waterford Camogie Team in Ireland. David has vast experience working with a wide variety of patients from professional athletes to sedentary individuals. Since graduating David has worked with several sporting teams including, rugby, hurling (the national sport in Ireland), basketball, hockey and boxing. David is a firm believer in the implementation of evidence-based medicine and educating his clients to give them the tools to control their recovery from injury.

David moved to Canada in September 2019 with his partner Annie. They have spent the first 4 months of their time here traveling around the east side of Canada. They have thoroughly enjoyed their time traveling around this vast and beautiful country but are both keen to settle down and very excited that they get to do this in Fernie. They are both very active and are looking forward to hitting the slopes in Fernie.
